Bilberry (2020) and computer/screen eye strain, eye fatigue

research

2020

This double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was conducted for twelve weeks with 109 healthy visual display terminal (VDT) workers. VDTs include computers, tablets, TVs, phone, video, etc.. The study sought to determine if bilberry extract (Vaccinum mytrillus L.) could be beneficial in reducing eye strain and fatigue due to extended screen use. The treatment group orally consumed 240 mg daily of standard bilberry extract (SBE). By demonstrating improvements in objective measures of ciliary muscle contraction, the outcomes provided compelling evidence that supports the use of bilberry extract for alleviating ocular strain and fatigue associated with visual display terminal work.
